I’m the head of Reference & Instruction at the Gould Library at Carleton college. My academic focus has always been in the natural sciences. I was a geology major, I still have my rock hammer, and I do still hit rocks with it on occasion.
One of our primary roles on campus is thinking about information literacy and how to introduce and integrate it in to the college’s curriculum. As our college has started thinking more about what our graduates do after they leave the “college bubble,” I’ve been thinking more about what good information literacy looks like in a non-academic setting. I’m particularly interested in information literacy in blogging and social media.
